Annotating Readings
To get a good understanding of literature, contemporary readings, or an issue, reading the primary and secondary sources actively and annotating them as you go along will engage you with the text.
The checklist below from AVID Teacher Reference is a good start. Be sure to read texts with a pen/pencil/hilighter in hand!
