This semester, David McRae's HIS 102 & 202 courses explored the history of music. They began their exploration by reading Tom Breihan's The Number Ones: Twenty Top-Charting Hits that Reveal the History of Pop Music. Each chapter in the book focuses on a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and explains the significance of that song in the evolution of music and our understanding of society at that time. Students worked individually, using a single chapter as a starting point for research. Using the CRAAP method, they scoured the internet for credible sources to better contextualize their song. This project is the result of their hard work and diligence.
