Fall 2023

Remixes and reimaginings are all around us.  The new Netflix series The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) is a perfect example of this, as the series reimagines the lives of Roderick and Madeline Usher centered around a "pact with the devil" moment and Roderick's children and grandchildren.  Other examples come in the form of reimagined stories like the short story collection Oz Reimagined, where authors use the premise of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to reboot characters in new spaces and new environments.  Science creates remixes every day in the forms of artificial limbs and implants that take the place of human body parts, just to name one instance.  People use photoshop to generate remixed pictures, people use well-known pictures to create their own memes, fandoms create mash-up videos or homage videos to their favorite media, and artists recreate media, song, dance, or digital works representing the original idea or form.  Join the Jefferson State Digital Museum this fall as classes, faculty, and organizations present projects surrounding the theme of “Remix and Reimagine.”  This semester also welcomes participation from an international collaboration in biology.  Click on the subjects, or content areas, to the left to view all the projects.
