Artificial Intelligence is here to stay. What better way to explore how AI works and how it can be used in the classroom than to recreate the legendary expedition of Meriweather Lewis and William Clark. Students in David McRae's HIS 201 courses read primary sources related to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, then created AI images based on what they read. However, as discussed in class, AI is (currently) only as smart as the person feeding it information. As these students learned, there is a lot of intellectual labor that goes into creating good AI outcomes. Students were to document their AI journey and critique their final product.
