Pioneer Con

Pioneer Con is part Comic-Con and part Academic Conference. In 2016, SKD created Pioneer Con as an opportunity for Jefferson State Community College students, faculty, and staff to express themselves through discussions and events centered around science fiction and fantasy. What started as a little movement has turned into a wonderful event hosted every October to give our students, faculty, staff, and members of the community a chance to release their inner geek.

The Pioneer Con 2024 theme is DISCOVERY AND EXPLORATION.

This year's theme will explore the realms of the unknown, delving into the mysteries of distant stars and uncharted arenas. Through discussions and presentations, participants will uncover the secrets of alien worlds, encounter ancient civilizations, and contemplate the enigma of existence. The conference aims to celebrate the spirit of adventure inherent in science fiction, fantasy, popular culture, and academia, inviting attendees to embrace the quest for knowledge and wonder. It offers a platform for exploration and discussion, inviting all to join in the journey of discovery.

*Pioneer Con 2024 will be on Wednesday, October 23 at the Shelby-Hoover Campus

and Thursday, October 24 at the Jefferson-Centerpoint Campuses of Jefferson State Community College.
