Pioneer Con

Welcome

Pioneer Con is part Comic-Con and part Academic Conference. In 2016, SKD created Pioneer Con as an opportunity for Jefferson State Community College students, faculty, and staff to express themselves through discussions and events centered around science fiction and fantasy. What started as a little movement has turned into a wonderful event hosted every October to give our students, faculty, staff, and members of the community a chance to release their inner geek.

*Pioneer Con 2023 will be on Thursday, October 26

at the Shelby-Hoover Campus of Jefferson State Community College.

More details will be posted on this site as they become available.

This year's theme is LORE.

"Lore" is an all-encompassing term for the traditions and beliefs that help define a group. This can be the folklore that we grow up hearing, the urban legends we tell at night, or the myths and legends we learn of past civilizations. It can also refer to the history and world-building that exists for all of our favorite fictional entertainment, including television shows, books, movies, and video games. So when we say "lore," we mean the myths that define our past, the traditions that unify our families, and the stories that keep us entertained.
