Coronary Artery Disease

Basic Dysrhythmias

Basic dysrhythmias – The various resources cover more cardiac rhythms than we require for this course.  For that reason, here is a list of the required rhythms for you to review. 

  • Normal sinus
  • Sinus tachycardia
  • Sinus bradycardia
  • Supraventricular tachycardia
  • Atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter
  • Heart blocks (1st degree, 2nd degree Mobitz 1 & 2, 3rd degree)
  • PVC’s (unifocal vs multifocal, R on T phenomenon)
  • Ventricular fibrillation
  • Ventricular tachycardia (including torsades)
  • Pacemakers (atrial, ventricular, and dual.  Also includes ICD’s)
  • Asystole

A term proposed by the National Stroke Association for the sudden loss of neurological function that constitutes a stroke. The term is meant to be similar to “heart attack” in order to convey the emergent nature of strokes and the need for affected patients to seek care immediately when treatment may do the most good.
